The Biggest Rice-Bowl (Trough) In The World

A trough made out of stone has been excavated within the refectory of the monastery by the Cultural Triangle Project, This trough has a capacity of placing five thousand alms bowls within it. It is also said that this had been used for storing raw rice offered as alms to the monks living there, There had been five thousand Buddhist monks living at the Abhayagiri monastery during the time that the Chinese monk Fahsien lived, which was for approximately two years.
